New ETIAS Pre-Travel Requirements for Canadians visiting the European Union
Starting January 1, 2025, Canadians and other travelers from visa-exempt countries planning a European getaway will require ETIAS authorization before visiting the Schengen Area. The European Travel Information and Authorization System tracks visitors from countries who do not need a visa to enter the Schengen Zone. This system was proposed by the European Union to improve security and monitor the flow of travelers. Travel for the Unvaccinated Travel has opened up for Canadian Travellers flying from and to Canada for the unvaccinated, but quarantine is still required. HOWEVER, you must still confirm, if unvaccinated, what the rules are for travel to the Countries you want to visit. USA still requires proof of vaccination. We can only speculate (not a guarantee) that this might change in the near future consistent with the lifting of restrictions in other countries.
