The USA is now accepting I-192 Waiver Applications at select Biometrics-Designated land borders. If you wish to hand in your Waiver immediately and have not already done so, we ask that our clients contact our office first before submitting their application.

GENERAL INFORMATION: (subject to change at any time)

#1. It appears the USA border is not concerned if you’ve had a negative test or vaccine. However, I recommend you NOT attend if you have symptoms of Covid, have Covid, or have been in contact with someone within past 14 days who has Covid.

#2. If handing your application in at a land border, park your car on the Canadian side. This reduces the risk Canadian Border Service Agency will want to inspect your vehicle on your return.

#2. Commencing August 9th, fully vaccinated Canadians won’t have to quarantine on their return to Canada. BUT (a) the Canadian Government warns they may revoke this if covid positive tests continue to increase; and (b) you MUST be fully vaccinated a full 14 days before returning to Canada; and (c) you must receive a PCR test within 72 hours of return to Canada (ie. before submitting your Waiver). We recommend your test be no more than 65 hours old when you arrive at the border in the event of unexpected delays while submitting your application.

CONFUSION:

Why the confusion? We are getting a lot of conflicting information from various ports.

People attend border ports for a variety of reasons. Some people have to get out of their vehicle (ie. Waiver applicants so that they can provide biometrics) and some do not (ie. people renewing visas). Those that do not get out of their vehicle are exempt from quarantine. Likewise, some Waiver applicants may be exempt, if they go to the USA for essential services. In addition, each province may have its own unique set of rules.
