What Some Pardon Companies in Canada do not want you to know about emergency pardons and processing times.

Would you like to know how to obtain an Emergency Pardon in Canada? Would you like to get your Pardon granted quickly in four easy steps? Perhaps have it granted in 6 weeks or less?  Sorry to get your hopes up. You can not get a pardon quickly. In fact, it is a slow, long process.  Do not trust pardon companies who promise emergency pardons.  Every effort should always be made to get your pardon at the earliest opportunity.  But any emergency will only save a few weeks in processing times.  And, everything else that ensures you get a pardon at the earliest opportunity should be automatically part of a normal pardon application.

NOTE:   the name Pardon has changed to Record Suspension.

Four Steps to Obtaining an Emergency Pardon

Here are Four Easy Tips to Ensuring Your Application for Pardon is Processed as Quickly as Allowed (even though quickly won’t be fast enough!):

Tip One: Order your RCMP Record for the purposes of your pardon application using digital technology. Digital technology is faster than ink technology.

Tip Two: You can always ask local agencies (ie. police & courts) to process your requests quickly. Some will help, but most won’t.

Tip Three: If you can prove, if it is the case, that all of your conviction(s) are summary, the National Parole Board will automatically process your request faster than files with indictable offences. It is not a special request…it is automatic.

Tip Four: Look for a Pardon company (like mine) that automatically uses digital fingerprinting technology, that automatically checks to see if all convictions are summary and that will ask local agencies (police and courts) to rush if an emergency exists. You should not have to pay ‘extra’ as these requests should be a normal part of the process when requesting assistance with a Pardon Application.

Parole Board of Canada (PBC) Emergency Pardon Processing Times

The NPB does NOT accept emergency requests.

• Under the old rules, pardon processing times is 2 to 2.5 years PLUS the 3 to 6 months it takes to get your file ready for submission to the Parole Board of Canada for a total period of at least 2.5 years.
• Under the new record suspension rules, processing times is 3 to 6 months for summary offences and upwards of 1 year for indictable offences. Don’t forget to add the 3 to 6 months it takes to get your file to the PBC.
• If your pardon application is pending under the old rules, you might save time switching to the new record suspension process. BUT DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU CONSULT WITH US FIRST. YOU MIGHT NOT QUALIFY UNDER THE NEW TOUGH RULES.
• Long past are the days you could get an emergency pardon in less than 6 weeks from beginning to end. The RCMP and PBC will not process requests submitted to them on an emergency basis. The courts and police might cooperate, but this is only likely to save you a few weeks.
• Summary offences are automatically sealed quickly under the new record suspension rules.
